The Constraints Nobody Checks Until Delivery Day
Equipment delivery goes wrong in physical, unglamorous ways, and almost always because a measurement was assumed rather than taken.
A 42U cabinet on a pallet will not fit through a standard doorway or into most passenger elevators. Freight carriers deliver to a dock during dock hours, not to your cage — and if the building has no dock, the truck needs a lift gate that has to be requested at booking, not on arrival. Some facilities will not accept deliveries on your behalf at all; others hold them for a limited window and charge storage after it. Pallets and packaging have to leave the building, and data center floors generally prohibit cardboard entirely, so unboxing happens somewhere else or it does not happen.
None of these are difficult. They are just invisible until the truck is outside and the clock is running.

The Site Survey We Run First
Before anything ships, we confirm the route from the street to the cabinet:
- Dock, hours, and lift gate. Whether there is a dock, when it is staffed, and whether the delivery needs a lift gate or pallet jack booked in advance.
- Every doorway and elevator on the path. Measured, not assumed. Freight elevator dimensions, weight limit, and availability window.
- Floor loading and route surface. Raised floor tile ratings and whether the path from the dock to the cage can take a loaded cabinet.
- Receiving policy. Whether the facility accepts deliveries for tenants, how long they hold, and what storage costs after that.
- Access and escort. Badging lead time for our technicians, escort requirements, and whether tools need to be declared in advance.
- Packaging disposal. Where deboxing happens and who removes the waste, agreed before delivery rather than negotiated in a corridor.
