Power & Network Distribution

Power & Network Distribution

We install structured cabling, power cords, and patch panels to distribute power and network connectivity across your racks. Whether you’re building from scratch or upgrading an existing deployment, we ensure clean routing, power redundancy, and secure cable management. PYLON DC designs and implements power and network distribution infrastructure that supports reliable, scalable operations in enterprise and colocation data centers.

Power Is Where Deployments Actually Fail

Space is rarely the thing that stops a deployment. Power is, and usually because of arithmetic that nobody did.

Breakers are rated for continuous load at 80% of nameplate — a 20A circuit gives you 16A of usable, sustained draw. Size to the full 20 and it will hold until the first simultaneous power-on, when inrush trips it. On three-phase PDUs, loading one phase heavily while the others idle causes imbalance that shortens equipment life and can trip protection well below the circuit’s rated total.

Then there is the redundancy that isn’t. A dual-supply server with both cords in the same PDU has no A/B redundancy at all, only two cables. It is one of the most common findings in a power audit, and it is invisible until the feed it depends on goes down.

What We Do

  • Structured Cabling Installation: We run and terminate copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) and fiber (single-mode, multi-mode) cabling to TIA-568 standards, providing reliable high-speed connectivity across your environment.
  • Power Cord & Whip Management: We install, route, and dress power cords from PDUs to devices, ensuring proper strain relief, clean routing through cable managers, and clear labeling of every connection.
  • Patch Panel Build-Outs: We install and terminate patch panels for structured cabling, providing organized, labeled termination points that simplify moves, adds, and changes over the life of the deployment.
  • Power Redundancy Design: We configure A/B power feeds, verify failover paths, and validate that critical devices are connected to redundant power sources — protecting against single points of failure.
  • Clean Routing & Cable Pathways: All cabling is routed through overhead trays, under-floor pathways, or vertical/horizontal cable managers with proper bend radius, separation of power and data, and consistent dressing.
  • Cable Management Solutions: We install vertical and horizontal cable managers, Velcro bundling, and service loops to keep every rack organized, accessible, and ready for future additions.
  • New Build & Retrofit Support: Whether you’re building a greenfield deployment or upgrading legacy infrastructure, we design distribution layouts that meet your current needs and accommodate future growth.
  • Testing & Certification: Every cable run is tested and certified after installation, with results documented and provided to your team for compliance records and ongoing reference.

How We Validate Power Before Handover

  • Measured, not nameplate. Nameplate ratings describe a worst case almost no machine reaches. We measure actual draw under load and size from that, with headroom stated explicitly.
  • Phase balance checked. On three-phase distribution we balance across phases and record the figures, rather than filling outlets in the order they happen to be numbered.
  • A/B verified by pulling a feed. Redundancy that has never been tested is an assumption. We confirm every dual-corded device stays up with one side removed — scheduled, and with your agreement.
  • Correct connectors, correctly seated. C13/C14 and C19/C20 matched to the device, locking cords where vibration or accidental contact is a risk.
  • Circuits labeled to the panel. Every outlet traced back to its breaker and documented, so the next person to work in the cabinet knows what they are switching off.

Why Choose PYLON DC

Power and network distribution form the backbone of your data center — when they’re done right, everything else runs smoothly. PYLON DC’s cabling technicians bring years of hands-on experience in enterprise and colocation environments, following industry standards and facility-specific requirements. We don’t just make connections; we build infrastructure that’s maintainable, scalable, and documented. Clean cabling means fewer troubleshooting headaches, faster service times, and a professional environment that passes audits and inspections.

Service Coverage

We provide power and network distribution services across Northern Virginia including Ashburn, Reston, Tysons Corner, Sterling, Herndon, Crystal City, Manassas, and the greater DMV region. Based in Falls Church, VA, we’re just 20 minutes from Data Center Alley.
